Geotech 2010 fun times!

Here's a few pics from the Geotech Conference! This symposium put the "fun" in "fundamentals!"

About a dozen vendors set up shop in Bishop Dunne's basketball gym. The above pic illustrates the lengthy set-up process.

Once the vendors were ready, we lined up to check out the products. I'd guesstimate at least 200 people were browsing the gym that morning.

THe Naval Academy and University of Missouri were recruiting hard that day... about 100 Bishop Dunne students (and their parents) were at the Geotech Conference.

This seminar wow'd the crowds. Cell phones in the classroom maybe sound oxymoronic, but she made it sound like the wave of the future.

You can tell from the picture that the food/refreshments were stellar. Breakfast and lunch were included in the $20 ticket. What a steal!

I stared at this mat for several minutes. Think of the possibilities! I'd buy one, but it's realyl more for primary school students, and I teach 9-12... but oh, the possibilities!!!!

Smart Boards run a couple thousand bucks, so I'm not convinced of their usefulness considering the costs. I'm surprised Bishop Dunne could afford so many... good for them! But I don't think they're going to replace white boards any time soon. But sure, they could do some neat tricks, I can't lie!

This award-winning photographer brought dozens of prints from his expedition in Swaziland. At least, I think it was Swaziland because he told stories about travelling through South Africa to get to his destination. He's British, worked for "Planet Earth," and graciously donated autographed pics to the Geotech 2010 raffle. What's not to love?
