#4 Word Processors

If Budweiser is the King of Beers, Microsoft Word is the King of Word Processors. Check out all the options in this screen shot.

Sure, it's not always easily navigable, but it's all there. Just takes some getting used to.

Word processors are computer applications that can compose, edit, and format documents. Obviously, the most popular is Microsoft Word, which is included in the software package Microsoft Office.

However, my school district opted to use the free version - the Web 2.0 version - of the modern word processor, which is developed by Sun Systems, and it's included in the Open Office Software Package. It's called Open Office Writer.

You can see from the screen shot that it's comparable in appearance, but I mean it when I say the program is worth what you pay for. It's caused all sorts of problems for my students who haven't adjusted well from the change from Microsoft Word. What can ya do other than practice, practice, practice?
